SBS and NCBA Bank Graduates 40 Entrepreneurs in the Enterprise Development Programme

Last year, we partnered with NCBA Group to train entrepreneurs in the Enterprise Development Programme, and Wednesday, 17^th January 2024 marked the culmination of this Programme as we graduated more than 40 entrepreneurs in a colorful ceremony.
The Enterprise Development Programme is a 16-week enterprise development course that is tailored to meet and solve some of the needs and challenges SMEs face. This course is hands-on, and participant centered. Using locally developed business case studies, participants are engaged in discussions enabling them to develop problem-solving and good decision-making skills.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony, Dr. Majid Twahir, Associate Dean, Research, and Innovation at Strathmore Business School (SBS) emphasized the commitment that Strathmore University has to empowering entrepreneurs. “At Strathmore University we are an entrepreneurial university, deeply committed to nurturing the growth of SMEs. Our focus on SMEs aligns with their pivotal role in sustaining households, fostering innovation, and being prolific sources of employment,” Dr. Majid noted.

Tirus Mwithiga, NCBA Group Director of Retail Business Banking, applauded the participants for their grit during the Programme. “Your determination shaped today’s success. Armed with new skills, you’re set for greater heights,” Tirus noted.

The event saw SBS and NCBA Bank expand their partnership to cover training discounts on the Owner Manager Programme for NCBA Bank customers. Speaking during the #MoU signing, Tirus Mwithiga noted NCBA Group’s commitment to partnering with Strathmore Business School (SBS). “We’re expanding our support beyond SMEs and today we are thrilled to enhance our partnership with SBS Kenya for the Owner Manager Programme (OMP),” Tirus noted.
Dr. Majid Twahir on the other hand emphasized the importance of this partnership in working towards our vision of developing great African leaders. “Through this partnership, we will be able to continue developing great African entrepreneurs for Kenya and beyond. We look forward to forging a continued partnership with NCBA,” Dr. Majid added.

The Owner Manager Programme is designed for entrepreneurs running medium sized companies and commercial businesses. This Programme aims to help entrepreneurs analyze and fine-tune their businesses, identify, and overcome roadblocks, and equip them with the tools to unlock business potential. By going through this Programme, owner managers can develop pragmatic skills through sessions with our world-renowned faculty, external industry experts and fellow business owners.
