Tervel Zwjatkow is a renowned international sports event and project manager, sports sustainability researcher, environmentalist, and former karate athlete. He has managed several major international sporting events and developed and implemented the first comprehensive Green Event Concept in the history of international karate for the 2026 European Karate Championships in Frankfurt, including the first integrated sustainable transport strategy for a major international karate event. His current research examines the environmental and social limits to the geographical expansion of the global sports sector, with a particular focus on host city/ country selections and growing international event calendars.
