A Decade of Transformative Leadership

I joined Strathmore University Business School (SBS) in February 2015, marking what has been nearly a decade of professional growth and personal transformation. My journey began as a Programme Associate for the MBA in Healthcare Management (MBA HCM), which was barely two years old. I was tasked with managing the class and overseeing the sales—an exciting opportunity that allowed me to interact with professionals from diverse sectors.

The first two years were profoundly enriching. I had the privilege of working with some of the brightest minds in the healthcare industry, including top ophthalmologists. The Programme was a rich mix of the broader health sector, bringing together leaders from across the country. One story that stands out is that of Eileen, an entrepreneur from Mombasa, who initially struggled with the fees. She was on the verge of giving up when I shared the flexible payment structure with her. This simple conversation reignited her determination, and she not only managed to pay her fees ahead of schedule but also went on to expand her clinic into several branches. Her success story, along with others in the Programme, highlights the transformative impact of education at SBS. Many of my students went on to grow their businesses, transitioning from general practice to roles in pharmaceuticals and beyond.

In 2017, I transitioned into Executive Education, where I focused on supporting the seamless delivery of our Programmes to executives. I enjoyed guiding participants through their educational journeys, even for those who faced challenges completing their programmes. The relationships we built with these individuals, many of whom return for further education, have been key to our long-term success. A great example is Dr. Maxwell Okoth and his wife, Dr. Joan from RFH Healthcare, who was part of the MBA HCM Programme, and both continue to champion SBS’s vision.

The success of SBS can be attributed to the deep, lasting relationships we build with our clients and students. We don’t just offer programmes; we create an ecosystem of support where we go the extra mile to ensure every participant receives the full value of their education.
