About Geoffrey

Dr. Geoffrey Injeni is a Faculty and Management Consultant with focus in Accounting & Finance at Strathmore University Business School. He has more than 20 years’ experience in industry, consulting and academia. His colleagues and friends describe him as a consistent, reliable, adaptable, and generally supportive person.

He holds a PhD in Accounting and Finance from Strathmore University. His research was on Integrated Reporting, which is a blend of financial, sustainability and corporate governance reporting.  He also holds a Master of Commerce Degree, Finance and a Bachelor of Commerce – Accounting & Finance, all from Strathmore University. He is a member of the CFA®, a member of the Institute of Chartered Investment Financial Analysts (ICIFA), a fellow of both ICPAK and ACCA.

His core areas of specialization include: Financial Accounting and Reporting, Management Accounting, Corporate and Business Finance, and Business and Financial Analysis. Dr. Injeni has developed competencies in Public Financial Management, Investments, Risk Management, Corporate Governance, Sustainability and Strategy, Data Analytics and Personal Financial Management (Private Wealth management).

He has demonstrated effective leadership and communication skills with keen interest in people through interpersonal relationships. He is also adept at collaborations and highly adaptable and open to new and interesting opportunities.

Dr. Injeni served as the Director, Strathmore University School of Accounting from April 2017 to October 2018, where he formulated and implemented the school’s strategy for delivering high quality professional courses to match/exceed world standards.

In May 2010 to April 2014, he was the Director, Strathmore University School of Finance and Applied Economics , where he began with the successful approval and launch of the B.Sc. curriculum, developed and implemented the school’s strategy. He also began the school’s operations together with a supportive team of both administration and academic staff, resulting in reported growth in student numbers to over 400 by 2014.

He also served as a non-executive director of Mzima Investment Company from 2013 to 2021, and actioned projects of more than Ksh.150 million in real estate. He was a member of the management board and later chairman of Mzima Springs SACCO, from 2002 to 2015, mobilizing   deposits from $0.09 million to $1.5 million, growing membership, introducing innovative saving and credit products, and improving loan origination and disbursement process.

He managed clients’ medical funds as a credit controller and prepared financial reports for audit as a financial accountant at Health Management Solution between 1998 and 2001, as well as other management reports to aid in decision making.

Dr. Injeni has also carried out numerous management consultancies ranging from: business planning and strategy, financial management, improving financial policies, procedures, controls and financial reporting, costing and setting prices, and business and financial analysis. He has developed content and syllabus for Strathmore University and professional bodies such as ICPAK and ICIFA and curriculums for Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB).

In addition to consultancies, Dr. Injeni delivers high-quality training ranging from: Corporate Governance, Sustainability, Finance for Non-Finance, International Accounting, Audit and Public Standards, Audit and Risk Management, and Public and Personal Financial Management. The clients include board members, senior executive management, middle and new managers, company employees, owners of businesses and others in the private and public sectors and members of professional bodies. These are drawn from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and South Africa.

Dr. Injeni joined Strathmore University Business School as a faculty member in 2014.He facilitates sessions in Financial and Managerial Accounting, Financial Management, International Finance, Project Finance, Investment Analysis, Financial and Business Analysis, and Risk Management to undergraduate students and graduate students of the MBA, MBA in Healthcare, Master of Science in Development Finance and Master of Management in Agribusiness.

Since 2001, he has facilitated the same subject areas in the Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Association of Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) programs. He is a member of the Education and Research committee of the Institute of Chartered Investment Financial Analyst (ICIFA), Member of the Professional Standards Committee and Trainer with the Professional Members Services of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK). He served as a member of the Kenya Advisory Council of ACCA and in the Research and Development committee of ICPAK.
