La semaine derni\u00e8re, le 11 f\u00e9vrier, f\u00eate de Notre-Dame de Lourdes, l'\u00c9glise catholique a c\u00e9l\u00e9br\u00e9 la Journ\u00e9e mondiale du malade. Institu\u00e9e en 1992 par saint Jean-Paul II, cette journ\u00e9e invite les fid\u00e8les \u00e0 prier pour ceux qui souffrent, \u00e0 r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir au sens de la maladie et \u00e0 unir la douleur humaine \u00e0 la souffrance r\u00e9demptrice du Christ pour le bien de l'\u00c9glise et du monde.<\/p>\n

Pour de nombreuses s\u0153urs catholiques, le soin des malades ne se limite pas \u00e0 ce seul moment du calendrier liturgique. Cette compassion est un engagement de toute une vie, v\u00e9cu quotidiennement dans les h\u00f4pitaux, les cliniques, les maisons de retraite et les programmes d'aide \u00e0 la communaut\u00e9. En Afrique centrale et orientale, les s\u0153urs catholiques sont depuis longtemps au c\u0153ur des soins de sant\u00e9 communautaires, prodiguant avec compassion et dignit\u00e9 des soins \u00e0 ceux qui en ont le plus besoin. Leur minist\u00e8re refl\u00e8te une foi profond\u00e9ment pr\u00e9sente, \u00e9coutant, accompagnant et r\u00e9pondant \u00e0 la souffrance avec une comp\u00e9tence professionnelle et une tendresse humaine.<\/p>\n

Dans de nombreux centres de soins communautaires g\u00e9r\u00e9s par des s\u0153urs catholiques, le sch\u00e9ma est \u00e9tonnamment similaire. Ces \u00e9tablissements, souvent situ\u00e9s dans des zones mal desservies, constituent le premier et le plus fiable des points de soins pour les familles ayant un acc\u00e8s limit\u00e9 aux services de sant\u00e9. Jour apr\u00e8s jour, les s\u0153urs fournissent des soins ambulatoires, des services de sant\u00e9 maternelle et infantile, des traitements de base pour les patients hospitalis\u00e9s, des diagnostics de laboratoire et un soutien continu aux patients souffrant de maladies chroniques.<\/p>\n

Ce qui distingue ces centres, ce ne sont pas seulement les services offerts, mais aussi la mani\u00e8re dont les soins sont dispens\u00e9s. Les s\u0153urs restent profond\u00e9ment ancr\u00e9es dans les communaut\u00e9s qu'elles servent, \u00e9coutant attentivement les patients, les familles et les dirigeants locaux. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 cet engagement \u00e9troit, elles sont souvent les premi\u00e8res \u00e0 reconna\u00eetre les nouveaux d\u00e9fis en mati\u00e8re de sant\u00e9. Ces efforts refl\u00e8tent la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 quotidienne du minist\u00e8re de gu\u00e9rison des s\u0153urs, discret, r\u00e9actif et ancr\u00e9 dans les besoins des communaut\u00e9s qu'elles servent. Ils incarnent \u00e9galement l'esprit profond de la Journ\u00e9e mondiale du malade : un engagement \u00e0 accompagner ceux qui souffrent, non seulement dans la pri\u00e8re, mais aussi par une action pratique et compatissante.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Pourtant, ces minist\u00e8res sont soumis \u00e0 une pression croissante. L'augmentation des co\u00fbts op\u00e9rationnels, la demande croissante de services sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9s et la diminution du financement par les donateurs menacent la viabilit\u00e9 des \u00e9tablissements de sant\u00e9 confessionnels. Dans ce contexte, l'impact \u00e0 long terme exige non seulement de la compassion et de l'engagement, mais aussi un leadership fort, une gestion professionnelle et une vision strat\u00e9gique.<\/p>\n

Alors que l'\u00c9glise r\u00e9fl\u00e9chit \u00e0 la Journ\u00e9e mondiale du malade, le Projet de valeur mixte des s\u0153urs (SBVP) est une r\u00e9ponse significative \u00e0 son appel. En renfor\u00e7ant la capacit\u00e9 des s\u0153urs catholiques \u00e0 diriger des institutions r\u00e9silientes et ax\u00e9es sur leur mission, le SBVP contribue \u00e0 garantir que les soins aux malades restent accessibles, dignes et enracin\u00e9s dans la compassion.<\/p>\n

En c\u00e9l\u00e9brant la Journ\u00e9e mondiale du malade, nous honorons \u00e9galement le t\u00e9moignage silencieux et fid\u00e8le des s\u0153urs catholiques, dont la vie nous rappelle que la gu\u00e9rison ne consiste pas seulement \u00e0 traiter la maladie.
