at Strathmore University Business School. The orientation session served as an introduction to the Strathmore way and spirit, setting the tone for the academic years ahead.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sbs.strathmore.edu\/fr\/dr-david-mathuva-phd-cpak-cfe\/\">Dr. David Mathuva<\/a><u>,<\/u> the Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs at the Business School kicked-off the session by acquainting the new students with Strathmore&#8217;s mission, vision, and values, emphasizing the institution&#8217;s commitment to excellence and holistic education. He also highlighted the exciting opportunity for an international module at India&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chitkara.edu.in\/\">Chitkara University<\/a>, adding a global perspective to their learning experience.<\/p>\n<p>During the orientation, students shared their reasons for choosing Strathmore, citing the Business School&#8217;s esteemed reputation, quality of education, and transformative leadership development. As they delved deeper into the foundations of the university, they learned about its multicultural heritage and the emphasis on human, cultural, and professional development.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sbs.strathmore.edu\/fr\/prof-gilbert-kokwaro\/\">Professor Gilbert Kokwaro<\/a>, Director of the Institute of Healthcare Management at the Business School, encouraged students to be passionate about the healthcare industry and strive for excellence in their endeavors. He introduced the concept of quality in healthcare, encapsulated by the acronym <strong><em>S.TE.E.E.P<\/em>,<\/strong> emphasizing <strong>safety, timeliness, efficiency, effectiveness, equity, and patient-centered care<\/strong>. Furthermore, Prof. Kokwaro underscored the importance of leadership in healthcare, defining a leader as someone entrusted with stewardship over people, capital, processes, and information, urging students to add value in each aspect.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s class consists of <strong>26 students<\/strong>, boasting an <strong>average age of 36 years<\/strong> and an <strong>average work experience of 12 years<\/strong>. Among them are <strong>20 female students and 6 male students<\/strong>, highlighting the gender diversity within the class.<\/p>\n<p>The MBA Healthcare Management Programme aims to equip managers with relevant skills for leading and managing the various facets and challenges that confront professional hospital and clinic managers, managers of NGO and faith-based health providers, and professionals in the emerging insurance, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries.
