    Navigating the Interview Maze<\/strong><\/p>\n

    As we mature, the relentless pursuit of jobs to gain self-reliance intensifies day and night. The craving and yearning for financial independence serves as the most potent catalyst. Consequently, before attaining that dream job or embarking on an entrepreneurial journey one must navigate the intricate world of job interviews.<\/p>\n

    Many individuals meticulously script their thoughts prior to facing the interview panels in a bid to master their delivery. Others prefer rehearsing their responses while gazing into the mirror. Each person has their own method of preparing for a job interview.<\/p>\n

    Recently, Strathmore University organized a mock interview event with the primary aim of equipping students with an understanding of the anticipated questions during a job interview, refining their articulation, and rectifying any potential missteps.<\/p>\n

    Here are some tips from the session:<\/p>\n

    Confidence is Key<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Greet your interviewers warmly with a firm handshake and maintain eye contact. Confidence is a powerful asset during an interview. Assume a comfortable yet professional posture that reflects your self-assuredness.<\/p>\n

    Mind your Body Language<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Body language speaks volumes. Avoid slouching and adopt open body language. Ensure to maintain open body language that reflects your confidence and enthusiasm for the role. Demonstrating these qualities ensures that your voice rings out clearly, sparing your interviewer the struggle of deciphering your words. Additionally, it is crucial to minimize the use of filler words such as ‘uhm,’ ‘like,’ or ‘hmm.’<\/p>\n

    Know your CV Inside out<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    When approaching an interview, become a virtuoso of your Curriculum Vitae (CV). This demonstrates that you have not fabricated any details about your skills, experience, or education. Revisiting your CV during the interview holds immense significance. Many people mistakenly believe that since they have already submitted their CV, it no longer holds value. Do not deceive yourself, my dear. It is equally vital as dressing impeccably. Moreover, summon all the confidence you have concealed throughout your life and unleash it, for it is of utmost importance. Greet your interviewers warmly and assume a comfortable posture. Command the room and maintain unwavering eye contact.<\/p>\n

    Tell a captivating story<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Use your interview as an opportunity to tell a compelling narrative. While you should avoid divulging overly personal details, remember that an interview is not an interrogation but a conversation. Engage your interviewers by presenting your experiences and skills with flair and enthusiasm.<\/p>\n

    Fluency and Positivity<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Fluently articulate your CV and explain why you are an ideal fit for the position. Maintain a consistently positive attitude throughout the interview. Even if faced with unfamiliar questions, express your willingness to learn or your existing knowledge and eagerness to delve deeper into the subject matter. Avoid uttering phrases like “I don’t know.”<\/p>\n

    Research and Avoid Jargon<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Prior to the interview, research the company and the role you’re applying for. Tailor your responses to align with the organization’s values and goals. Be cautious with industry jargon; while it may be familiar to you, it might not be to your interviewers. Clear communication is key.<\/p>\n

    Prioritize Self-Care<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Appearances matter, so prioritize self-care. Ensure you are well-rested, hydrated, and nourished. Avoid appearing dehydrated, sleep-deprived, or fatigued during the interview.<\/p>\n

    Differentiate Yourself<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Highlight what sets you apart from your peers and showcase your unique strengths and qualities.<\/p>\n

    Discuss Compensation<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    While some may shy away from discussing salary, it’s essential to know your worth and be open to compensation discussions. Conduct research on industry-standard salary ranges for the position you’re seeking.<\/p>\n

    Read Body Language Signals<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    During the interview, pay attention to the body language of your interviewers. Their non-verbal cues can provide insights into your performance. Adjust your approach if you sense disinterest or discomfort.<\/p>\n

    Ask Insightful Questions<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Finally, show your genuine interest in the role by asking insightful questions about the company, its future plans, and how your potential role fits into its vision.<\/p>\n
