Business School organised a learning session for students of the Bachelor of Commerce \u2013 ACCA Embedded Programme in partnership with the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The session was themed: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sharpening the Axe<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and it aimed to give the students insights and tips on the requirements as they prepare to join the job market after graduation later this year. Each speaker&#8217;s journey and perspective made for lively conversations on CV writing, grit, discipline and perseverance, and personal branding.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Speakers during the event included: Steve Obuogo, Market Head, ACCA Kenya &amp; Tanzania; Kelvin Kuria, Head of Unilever International, East Africa; Geoffrey Ochieng, Africa Change Lead, ACCA; Silvia Njambi Mwangi, Programs Manager, Xetova Eastern Africa; Serge Musingilwa, Venture Builder, Persistent Energy Capital; and Eddah Kiplagat, Tax Associate, PwC.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beyond preparation for the job market, the speakers emphasised the need for continuous learning. Kelvin Kuria owed his success to grit \u2013 from starting his agency at twenty-two\u00a0 years old and striving to learn business skills ahead of his counterparts. Kelvin dabbled in entrepreneurship and he\u00a0 has held two managerial positions at Unilever Rwanda and Australia. This culminated in his appointment as Head of Unilever International, East Africa, and all this before his 31st birthday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Silvia Mwangi spoke about the importance of personal branding and making an effort to have an impactful contribution in the community while leveraging on new media applications to amplify achievements.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Geoffrey Ochieng and Eddah Kiplagat gave the students tips on how to navigate ACCA\u2019s digital platforms and how to juggle work and a demanding course load.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Director of Undergraduate Programmes, Dr. David Mathuva, noted that Strathmore\u2019s unique partnership with ACCA gives\u00a0 the students certain exemptions, which allow them to complete their course faster than any other institution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The event culminated in a networking cocktail where the students got to have one on one interactions with the speakers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Le programme de licence en commerce (BCOM) est con\u00e7u pour les \u00e9tudiants qui souhaitent obtenir un dipl\u00f4me afin de maximiser leurs options de carri\u00e8re.
