Dr. Hellen Otieno

Dr. Hellen Otieno is a Senior Lecturer at the Strathmore University Business School.

She has a PhD in Entrepreneurship and Master’s Degree in Economics.

She has over twenty years of teaching experience, sixteen of which are at the university level. She is also a member of the Academic and PhD Committee in the School.

In addition to her academic qualifications, she has a certificate in Executive Coaching for Managers from Strathmore University and a Certificate in Training of Trainers. Dr. Otieno has over twenty his teaching career, sixteen of which are at the university level. Through several years of handling students from diverse backgrounds, she has come to appreciate the rich cultural background of the students; and the different challenges that they face.

Also, she has come to appreciate the management challenges that face organizations. These rich experiences have enabled her to gain insights into solutions to some of the current challenges.

Dr. Otieno has supervised several graduate students and over 200 undergraduate students. The supervision process has enabled her to appreciate the challenges organizations experience as well as helped her to gain insights into possible solutions to some of the challenges.

Dr. Otieno has built her consultancies and research capacity having participated in several consultancies and research studies both locally and internationally.

Qualifications

PhD in Entrepreneurship.

Master’s Degree in Economics.

Certificate in Executive Coaching for Managers from Strathmore University and a Certificate in Training of Trainers.

She is an alumnus of International Faculty Development Programme of the Prestigious Gordon Institute of Business Science, University of Pretoria, South Africa and the International Faculty Programme (IFP) of the IESE Business School, University of Navarra, Spain.

Dr. Otieno has written several Case Studies and mentored faculty in the writing several Case Studies. Through these research undertakings, she has acquired the skills of in-depth analysis of situations and learned the skills of making decisions based on incomplete information.
