    Last week, we hosted a customised Programme for Kenya Airways, dubbed the KQ Commercial Excellence Accelerator Programme. This Programme aimed to enhance commercial acumen and leadership in the aviation industry. Kenya Airways employees went through an immersive experience anchored in insights, tools, and knowledge-sharing across industries.<\/p>\n

    One of the key activities was a session with Dr. Julius Kipngetich, Chief Executive Officer, Jubilee Group Limited. Dr. Kipngetich is highly respected for his work in corporate strategy, governance, and transformation. He presented a compelling view of commercial excellence and leadership in a dynamic context. He challenged the audience to rethink the basis of commercial competitiveness. Dr. Kipngetich argued that for sustainable growth, companies cannot rely on discounting and price-cutting strategies, which he termed destructive to brands and resilience.<\/p>\n

    He further encouraged organizations to concentrate on value, differentiation, and the needs of the modern consumer. His presentation was very pertinent to the aviation sector, which depends on customer experience, connectivity, and reliability.<\/p>\n

    Drawing on examples from nature and economics, he pointed out that African industries and the aviation sector stand to gain much more from collaborative environments than from competitive ones. To unlock the potential of the aviation sector in Africa, Dr. Kipngetich says greater collaboration and shared platforms are needed.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

    Dr. Kipngetich also emphasized the need for digital transformation. He pointed out that technology adoption is no longer a choice but a necessity for organizations that want to be competitive in a data-driven market.<\/p>\n

    Ranging from automation and predictive analytics to AI-powered customer engagement, he urged delegates to adopt these and other technologies that improve decision-making, productivity, and customer satisfaction. \u201cDigital transformation should have happened yesterday,\u201d he said, \u201cbecause of the pace of change in the global business environment.\u201d<\/p>\n

    Dr. Kipngetich also addressed the more human, cultural side of organizational success. He highlighted five key components of successful leadership:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Dealing with tough decisions with conviction and courage<\/li>\n
    • Striking a balance between empathy and accountability<\/li>\n
    • Adhering to organizational discipline even when under pressure<\/li>\n
    • Emphasizing sustainability over short-term advantage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Organizations, he said, are human systems, and leadership behaviour directly impacts performance and trust.<\/p>\n
