hosted the Programme for Management Development (PMD) International Module.<\/p>\n<p>This week-long experience offered participants a blend of immersive learning, cultural exploration, and strategic insights, with a strong focus on leadership, operational excellence, and digital innovation.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Understanding South Africa\u2019s Business Landscape<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Day One of the module laid the foundation for the week by providing a comprehensive overview of South Africa&#8217;s historical, political, and economic landscape, expertly led by Buyani Zwane. The session explored South Africa\u2019s journey, equipping participants with a solid understanding of the region\u2019s business context.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Steve Briggs led a session titled &#8220;Doing Business in Africa,&#8221; where participants explored critical issues such as Africa&#8217;s population growth, urbanization, inter-African trade, and regional integration. Discussions on Foreign Direct Investment and the cultural and regional diversity across Africa offered valuable insights for navigating the continent\u2019s business environment.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Exploring Operational Excellence<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>The module began with visits to companies recognized for their mastery of operational excellence. A key stop was Pack &#8216;n Stack, where CEO Glenn Brauns emphasized the &#8220;People First&#8221; management approach, highlighting the company&#8217;s decision to donate 25% ownership to their staff. This innovative model fostered loyalty and commitment, demonstrating that investing in people leads to better customer service and company success.<\/p>\n<p>At WeBuyCars, founded in 1988 with 16 branches and 3,000 employees, participants experienced a company excelling in client experience through data-driven decision-making, automation, and digital tools. The visit showcased how blending technology with a strong, customer-focused culture can drive operational success and long-term growth.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Business Simulation: Leadership in Action<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>One of the standout experiences of the week was a business simulation led by Nick Denoon-Stevens. This hands-on exercise challenged participants to think strategically, make complex decisions, and lead in dynamic business scenarios.<\/p>\n<p>The simulation provided valuable lessons on leadership, risk management, and adapting to fast-changing environments, giving participants a real-world taste of the complexities leaders face.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Cultural Immersion in Soweto<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Beyond the boardroom, the module included a visit to Soweto, one of South Africa\u2019s most culturally significant locations. This cultural immersion offered participants a chance to explore the rich history of Soweto and gain a deeper appreciation of South Africa\u2019s diversity.<\/p>\n<p>Through guided tours and interactions with local communities, participants learned about the social, political, and economic struggles that shaped the nation.<\/p>\n<p>This visit was not only an opportunity to appreciate the cultural diversity of South Africa but also served as a reminder of the importance of understanding different cultural perspectives in leadership.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Empowering Leaders for the Future: About the Programme<\/strong><\/h3>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The program is designed to challenge middle-level managers to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to complex business challenges.
