    Strathmore University Business School (SBS) embarked on a transformative journey towards AACSB accreditation, affirming its commitment to academic excellence and global recognition. The recent information session held on March 25th and 26th, 2024, shed light on the significance of AACSB accreditation and the pivotal role of Business Schools in shaping societal change.<\/p>\n

    Facilitated by Ihsan Zakri, the Regional Head for Middle East and Africa at AACSB, the session delved into how Business Schools contribute to societal transformation. Zakri’s presentation underscored the importance of AACSB accreditation as a hallmark of quality education, fostering innovation, and driving economic growth.<\/p>\n

    AACSB accreditation provides Business Schools with international recognition, enhances faculty development opportunities, and facilitates collaboration with leading institutions worldwide.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

    The first day of discussions brought together representatives from universities across Kenya to explore both global and local trends in higher education. Global trends, such as credit transfer initiatives among European universities and the Addis Convention on harmonizing higher education standards in Africa, were examined. The importance of data sharing and accreditation in ensuring quality assurance on a global scale was emphasized.<\/p>\n

    On the local front, discussions centered on the introduction of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). This sparked discussions regarding the necessity for universities to adjust and equip themselves for students currently undergoing CBC.<\/p>\n

    A panel discussion led by Ian Wairua and Dr. Alfred Kitawi emphasized the importance of collaboration among competing universities, coined as “coopetition.” The consensus was that sharing knowledge and resources ultimately benefited all stakeholders.<\/p>\n

    The second day commenced with insights from Dr. Edward Mungai, the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Partnerships and Development at Strathmore University. Dr. Mungai emphasized Strathmore’s commitment to global impact and the proactive approach to self-disruption to stay ahead in a rapidly changing educational landscape. \u201cAcquiring accreditation will enable us uphold a culture of perpetual learning and enhance our ability to forge valuable partnerships.\u201d<\/p>\n

    In closing, the dean expressed gratitude to the Strathmore Accreditation Committee for their dedication, likening their efforts to the pioneering spirit of the university’s founders.
