    Access to finance poses a significant challenge for economic development, particularly for farmers and small enterprises in developing countries. Agricultural financing faces hurdles such as high transaction costs, elevated risks, information imbalances, unfavorable economic policies, a lack of guarantees, and inadequate infrastructure\u2014especially in rural areas where most agricultural production occurs.<\/p>\n

    To address these challenges, the Rwanda Development Bank sponsored 33 participants from financial intermediaries for the Financing Agribusiness Value Chains Programme. Some of the organizations represented included: Equity Bank Rwanda, Bank of Kigali, Inkunga Finance, BPR Bank Rwanda, RIM Plc, COOPEC Impamba, Goshen Finance Plc, Duterimbere IMF, CPF Ineza, Sacco Turimbere Shygowe, Umutanguha Finance Plc, Imbonera Sacco Ruli and Icyenekezo Masaka Sacco.<\/p>\n

    Conducted by the Strathmore Global Institute Rwanda, the training focused on providing agribusiness financiers with a deep understanding of agricultural value chains, highlighting their uniqueness compared to other sectors. The Programme further equipped participants with the skills necessary to understand clients’ needs and deliver effective solutions. By going through this Programme, the participants were able to understand Rwanda’s agricultural dynamics, ensuring agribusiness financiers are well-prepared to support sustainable growth in this vital sector.<\/p>\n

    The Financing Agribusiness Value Chains Programme aims to offer trainees a comprehensive understanding of agricultural value chain finance. The program targets agribusiness lenders, risk managers, credit officers, lawyers, investors, non-governmental agencies in agribusiness, policymakers, and other stakeholders interested in value chain financing.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
