    Last week, USAID’s Kenya Small Business Development Center Program (Kenya SBDC), led by the program Chief of the Party, George Njenga, paid a courtesy call visit to the Governor of the County Government of Kiambu to highlight the progress of the Kiambu Small Business Development Center and strengthen county support.<\/p>\n

    During the visit, Kiambu SBDC Coordinator, Isaac Mwangi highlighted the program’s milestones through the support of the county departments like the Department of Trade and Industrialization. The program has supported MSMEs to participate in various forums, like the National MSMEs conference expo and the 22nd EAC Expo in Uganda in 2022. Further, the program has trained and capacity built 400+ MSMEs on business development.<\/p>\n

    Dr. Kihonge, the County Director Department of Trade and Industries, concurred with Kiambu County Coordinator\u2019s updates and assured the Governor of the collaborations and partnerships they have been having with the program.<\/p>\n

    His Excellency, Dr. Kimani Wamatangi, expressed his desire to work with the program in the interest of the MSMEs in the county. He highlighted some of the county projects the county has enrolled in and is planning, which would be ideal for collaboration, such as the Jiinue, Piglets, and Chicks projects.<\/p>\n

    The governor affirmed that the budget for the Jiinue fund had been replenished, which has been critical and beneficial for the county’s MSMEs. It had been increased to 100 Million as a leverage fund, translating to 1.3B of available business funds.<\/p>\n

    The meeting culminated with the signing a Memorandum of Understanding that cemented the agreement between the program and the county government of Kiambu for collaborations and partnerships.<\/p>\n
