Dr. Wilson Wasike<\/strong>
\nDirector, Faculty Affairs<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Dr. Wilson Wasike is Climate Finance Expert and Consultant at UNFCCC\/EADB Regional Collaboration Centre for Eastern and Southern Africa (RCC Kampala) and embedded at the Kenya National Treasury and Economic Planning Ministry.<\/h3>\n

He holds a B.A. (First Class Honours), MPhil, M.A., and PhD degrees in Economics from the University of Nairobi, Moi University, University of Leeds, and the University of Stirling respectively.<\/h4>\n

He also is a graduate of the World Bank Development Institute (Frontiers in Infrastructure Finance), and Harvard University John F Kennedy School of Government (Executive Program in Infrastructure in a Market Economy).<\/h5>\n

He is the co-recipient (with Mwangi Kimenyi of Brookings Institution) of the 2001 Global Development Network Award for Outstanding Research.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Dr. Wasike is the immediate past Research Manager at the African Economic Research Consortium (www.aercafrica.org<\/a>) based in Nairobi, Kenya. AERC is a not-for-profit Pan-African institution dedicated to enabling the advancement of economic policy research and training in Africa. He provided support to intellectual leadership, strategic direction, and management of the AERC research programmes. The emphasis of his work was on collaborative research, commissioned studies and special workshops.<\/p>\n

Wilson\u2019s primary focus is on developing a framework for introducing a carbon pricing instrument within the context of the National Green Fiscal Incentives Policy Framework for Kenya. The work package complements the work of the GFIK and its objective is to support Kenya\u2019s Climate Finance Unit at the National Treasury and Planning Directorate with the development of a carbon market, to propose its implementation modality and to provide the Unit with technical assistance on drafting position papers about Article 6 of the Paris Agreement for the country\u2019s climate change negotiations.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Previously, he worked as Senior Policy Analyst and Head of Project Management and Resource Division in the Budget, Fiscal and Economic Affairs Directorate of the Kenya National Treasury and Planning Ministry (www.treasury.go.ke; 2013-2016) as well as Programme Manager in charge of collaborative Masters and PhD degree programmes at AERC and Programme Manager of the Consortium of Advanced Research Training in Africa (www.cartafrica.org<\/a>).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Between September 2000 and May 2009, Dr. Wasike served as the Senior Policy Analyst at the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (www.kippra.or.ke<\/a>), an autonomous public institution whose primary mission is to provide research-based quality public policy advice and capacity building to the government of Kenya and the private sector to contribute to the achievement of national development goals.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
