    The healthcare sector in Kenya is plagued by a myriad of challenges from inadequate resources to misappropriation of resources among others. Poor corporate governance is at the core of all the challenges in the sector. It is against this backdrop that Strathmore University Business School (SBS) entered a strategic alliance with Health Governance International (HGI) to strengthen corporate governance in the East African health sector.<\/p>\n

    The partnership agreement, which was officially signed on Friday, 10th March 2023, will see the two parties collaborate to enhance the performance of health sector organizations in Kenya. This will be mainly through strengthening the governing structures, processes and competencies along four key areas; health service delivery, production and supply of medical products, health finance and insurance and human resources for health.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

    Speaking during the MoU signing ceremony, Dr. Caesar Mwangi, Executive Dean, Strathmore University Business School noted the importance and timeliness of this partnership. \u201cThis is an exciting time for us to help clarify and strengthen the important work of the health sector governing bodies throughout Kenya and East Africa,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

    Professor Gilbert Kokwaro, Director of the Institute of Healthcare Management at the Strathmore University Business School added: \u201cThis new strategic alliance can not only enhance our health sector leadership and management programming,\u00a0but it positions us well to expand our engagement in East Africa and beyond.\u201d He\u00a0further noted : \u201c This initiative will contribute towards addressing the health sector stewardship gap highlighted in the Kenya Health Sector Strategic Plan (2018-2023) Medium Term Review Report of 2021\u201d<\/p>\n
