Prof. Simon Wagura, a senior faculty member and the Director of the Agri-Food Innovation Hub at Strathmore University Business School was recently awarded a grant by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to scale climate-smart livestock ventures in Africa.<\/p>\n

The project will be implemented in partnership with Green Ventures Africa (GVA, a new initiative by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) which aims to increase the scale of known sustainable solutions.<\/p>\n

In this project, the two parties will work in partnership with leading African agriculture and livestock companies to address their core scaling challenges. This collaboration is an initiative that aims to accelerate the highest impact, climate-smart businesses that drive green growth across Africa.<\/p>\n

About the Agri-Food Innovation Hub <\/strong><\/p>\n

Through the Agri-Food and Innovation Hub, Strathmore University Business School (SBS) aims to combine business, agriculture, county development and extension programs with research, mentoring, and teaching. Our agribusiness and research Programmes are designed to develop the strategic management skills of result-oriented professionals in the agribusiness<\/p>\n

sector. Emphasis is placed on the transformation of agricultural activities into a leveraged-science initiative aiming to contribute to stakeholders\u2019 economic well-being.<\/p>\n

The AFI\u2019s overall objective is to enhance the region\u2019s competitiveness in the agriculture and agri-food sector through facilitating and supporting innovative enhancements in the sector\u2019s strategic thrusts. It will achieve this by researching the challenges and opportunities at each stage in the sector\u2019s operations, understanding capacity gaps in decision-makers and management skills, and developing ameliorative initiatives to address these.
