Last week, our MBA for Executives Evening Class undertook an advertising contest that aimed to familiarize them with the advertisement creation process. The competition was part of the MBA for Executives Programme for students taking the Marketing Management unit.<\/p>\n

The Faculty Lead for the Marketing Management Unit is Dr. Nancy Njiraini, and the advertising contest was coordinated by Alois Njenga. The contest was part of an assignment given by the Marketing Management visiting Faculty member, Dr. Uchenna Uzo who is the Senior Lecturer in Marketing at Lagos Business School. The contest was judged by both Dr Uzo and Mr. Jibril Salaudeen, Director at Citiserve Limited, Nigeria.<\/p>\n

There were four syndicates and each was required to create an advertisement for the specific areas assigned. Judging for the contest was based on four key factors:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. The advertisement creation process<\/li>\n
  2. The inspiration behind the message of the advertisement<\/li>\n
  3. The contribution of each of the team members<\/li>\n
  4. Customization to the target market; in this case the Nigerian market<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The competition was a team effort and required all the skills, creativity, and input of the various team members. The winning team adequately created a very an informative and inspiring advertisement that resonated with the target market. The winning team was able to document the advertisement creation process step by step.<\/p>\n

    Syndicate four emerged as winning team; with an advert for a Nyama Choma Business; \u2018Nama Nyama\u2019 located in Nairobi targeting the Nigerian middle-class market. The advert portrayed the idea of nyama choma being a unifying factor for people of all walks of life, jobs and backgrounds together at the end of a long day.
