DESCRIPTION:NGO-Business Partnerships and Financial Inclusion\nSpeaker BiosMAKANDA KIOKO\nInternational Financial Inclusion Specialist \nMakanda has dedicated her career to ensuring that financial systems work for everyone\, from local entrepreneurs\, especially those in rural areas\, to displaced communities seeking stability. With over 25 years of technical leadership in international organizations\, she works beyond traditional banking\, championing inclusive investment models across Africa\, the Middle East\, Asia\, the Pacific\, Latin America & the Caribbean. Her major initiatives addressed financial inclusion in fragile\, conflict and forced displaced contexts: Chad\, Liberia\, Angola\, Mozambique\, Lebanon\, Syria\, Yemen\, Palestine\, Tajikistan\, Papua New Guinea\, Timor Leste\, Haiti\, Bosnia\, Myanmar. Having served as microenteprise officer for UNDP/UNIDO in Kenya\, Makanda’s experience bridges the broader global technical lessons and a deep commitment to East Africa’s social enterprise ecosystem. \nMakanda holds a B.A from the University of Nairobi\, Kenya and M.A. from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS)\, Johns Hopkins University\, U.S.A. \nDR. BAHAR KAZMI\nDr Bahar Ali Kazmi is a Senior Lecturer in Leadership and Management at Aston Business School\, Aston University\, and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy\, UK.\n\nHis research\, teaching and advisory work focus on business ethics\, corporate social responsibility\, business and human rights\, and the role of business in peacebuilding and climate adaptation in fragile and conflict‑affected settings. He has extensive experience working across academic\, government\, and non‑governmental contexts\, including the design\, delivery and evaluation of national and international programmes with UNSOM\, UNDP\, UNICEF\, ODI\, CAN International\, DAI Europe\, the International Labour Organization (ILO)\, the Swiss Development Corporation\, and Save the Children UK.\nDr Kazmi has published widely in leading international journals such as Journal of Business Ethics\, Organization\, Business & Society\, and Human Resource Management Review\, and has authored influential policy reports for major international organisations.
