Women in Executive Leadership League - Registration of Interest

Introduction

Corporate boards perform better when they include the best people who come from a range of perspectives and backgrounds. The boardroom is where strategic decisions are made, governance applied and risk overseen. It is therefore imperative that boards are made up of competent high calibre individuals who together offer a mix of skills, experiences and backgrounds. Board appointments must always be made on merit, with the best qualified person getting the job. The importance of improving the gender balance of corporate boards is increasingly recognised across the world.

This forum is designed to advance your management and leadership skills. You will have the opportunity to explore best practices and new research, share insights, compare experiences, and try out new ideas with an exceptional group of seasoned leaders in management.

Overview

According to a Catalyst Research, Women are good for business. The study was conducted on financial results of 524 public companies, which demonstrated a sustained commitment to competent women in leadership, as measured by the presence of women on their boards for four of the five years analyzed.

Despite a rough economic period, Fortune 500 companies with three or more women in board positions created a competitive advantage over companies with no women on their boards in the following three areas:

  • Return on Sales (ROS) : 84% advantage
  • Return on Invested Capital ( ROIC): 60% advantage
  • Return on Equity: 46% advantage

Strathmore Business School (SBS) for the first time invites you to an annual Women in Executive Leadership Summit aimed at raising the standards of excellence and number of competent women at board level.
