Strathmore Business School will host over 500 agribusiness investors and other key stakeholders in our 2nd annual convening: The Agribusiness Investors Summit 2018 on February 22nd and 23rd 2018.

The Agribusiness Investors Summit is designed to expose you to buyers and mentors as you get an opportunity to showcase your agribusiness solutions and products and establish networks that will be critical to the growth of your venture. You will appreciate what it takes to move your agribusiness investment to the next level.

Agriculture and agribusiness in Africa is projected to grow to be a US $1 trillion industry by 2030 from the current US$313 billion. In order for Africa to unlock this immense potential, we must be ready to invest sustainably into the sector, develop and diversify our value chains as we create more value through innovation.

A great idea and a strong technical team do not guarantee a sustainable and profitable business. In their nature, small agribusiness ventures are vulnerable to shocks emanating from environmental factors such as climate change, government policies and market fluctuations among others.

Improving and growing agribusinesses means higher incomes, improved livelihoods and increased employment opportunities. Nevertheless, agri-preneurs encounter numerous challenges as they endeavor to scale up. A large percentage of agri-preneurs do not possess the right knowledge and skills to make informed decisions to overcome these challenges and grow their ventures. As a result these businesses remain small, operating at a minimum capacity and unable to be fully commercial, or may even close down.

Agri-preneurs must be ready to adapt their leadership capabilities and acquire the skills and expertise necessary to respond to their business growth needs. They must continually improve themselves and their ventures by understanding their businesses, their business environments and what skills they need to adopt.

Agri-preneurs must possess what it takes to take their ventures to the next level, if we are to experience the desired sustainable growth of the agricultural sector in Kenya and in Africa as a whole.
