This workshop is intended to introduce the field of operations management (encompassing logistics and supply chain management) and its research and practice. Potential doctoral students will be exposed to broad research themes in operations management, in order to aid the participants to begin considering various topics in operations management. An overview of methodological approaches (with an emphasis on quantitative modeling approaches) will be presented.At the end of this workshop, participants will have developed a basic understanding of:
The scope and aim of operations management research
Various methodological approaches used in operations management
Bridging the gap between good practice and good research, and
How to identify a research problem for publication.
Potential students considering whether or not to start a research-based graduate program
Students considering the topic and methodological framework for their research
Anyone interested in the trends in the theory and practice of operations management research.
