Agnes is pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration (Management) at Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), South Africa. She started her doctorate in January 2017, and has successfully completed the 1 Year course work component. She celebrated this milestone at the graduation ceremony held on Wednesday 11th April at University of Pretoria. She is now in the proposal development phase, and hoping to defend successfully before the end of this year.
Agnes is the Academic Director of the New Managers Leadership Program (NMLP) and project leader for Kenya’s Top 100 Medium-sized companies at Strathmore Business School (SBS) and has extensive experience in designing and implementation of executive talent development programs. Until January 2017, she was Director of Executive Education at the business school. Her role included design and roll out of leadership development programs for board and C suite levels; mid- level to new managers; to meet growing demand for organizational leadership skills required to solve complex business challenges within the dynamic African context. Her experience in identifying leadership challenges is evidenced by many years of interactions with HR professionals & business leaders through the portfolio of over 20 SBS executive development programs which run in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania. While in this position, Agnes successfully set up a custom solutions unit at SBS, to provide customised solutions that address unique challenges for corporates. She has designed such programs for leading companies like Safaricom Ltd, TPS Serena, Stanbic Bank, KCB Group, Chase Bank Ltd, Trademark East Africa, Umeme Ltd (Uganda), Bank of Africa, UAP – Old Mutual among others. She has also been a panel moderator in conferences, HR Round table sessions and programs for women in leadership and business.
Previously, she worked at Total Kenya Limited, where she held various positions within the card marketing department. Her roles included client relationship management, business development and fleet management. She also worked at KCB Group and Housing Finance as a credit officer.
Agnes is a Balanced Scorecard Professional, and is an alumna of Strathmore Business School – Senior Management Leadership Program, 2013. She holds an MBA in Strategic Management from University of Nairobi and won a fully paid Guinness Scholarship to study at Strathmore University in its pioneer Bachelor’s class where she studied a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance. She is currently pursuing her doctorate at Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) in South Africa.
Agnes runs a mentorship club for high school and university students aged between 12 and 25 years, where she provides life skills, financial literacy & career guidance. She is also a mentor at Akili Dada, an award winning international leadership incubator for young women and girls. She is married with 4 children and enjoys spending time with her family.
