Governance in Health Service Delivery

Management Sciences for Health (MSH) and the Leadership Management and Sustainability Project (LMS) held a workshop for senior healthcare officials at Strathmore Business School on Thursday, 19th April 2012. The workshop was opened by Karen Caldwel - Project Director, MSH/LMS and Dr. George Njenga, DVC , Strathmore University.

The workshop had three key sessions that tackled the challenges facing hospital boards: global and Kenya realities, intentional governance and the steps to follow through. The workshop also engaged the participants in group discussions on reducing barriers to good governance and how to walk-the-talk of good governance.

Management Sciences for Health (MSH) through funding from USAID and in conjunction with Strathmore Business School offer a program designed for the healthcare leaders of the region titled Leading High-Performing Healthcare Organisations (LeHHO). LeHHO is geared towards improving healthcare delivery – a key criterion of economic development.

The face of healthcare is dynamic and more complex than ever, with technological innovations, new treatments, new laws & regulations, and new types of healthcare service delivery models. In addition to negotiating the day-to-day demands of a busy and complex organisation, healthcare delivery leaders must also be able to evaluate and understand the impact of different healthcare delivery models and major service delivery programs in specific disease areas.
