Dr. Elizabeth Muthuma is a social scientist with over twenty years’ cumulative experience in academia, the NGO sector and conservation research.  Her work experience has involved managing programmes in Humanitarian Aid in Conflict Zones; HIV/AIDS; Rights Based Development as well as Programme Monitoring and Evaluation.  She has also worked as an independent consultant and researcher in social development themes such as girl-child education, youth unemployment and financial inclusion.  She holds a PhD in Public Management from the Wits School of Governance, University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. She obtained a Master’s degree in Environmental Science (with a focus on Environmental Policy and Management) from Murdoch University, Western Australia, and a Bachelor of Science (Zoology) from the University of Nairobi, Kenya.

Dr. Muthuma served as Head of the Student Research Office which was responsible for facilitating the progress and completion of research projects by Masters’ students.  She teaches in the Master of Public Policy and Management (MPPM) and MBA programmes.  She is a public policy scholar and has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals.  Her research interests include democracy and governance, public management, and public-private partnerships.

Qualifications

PhD in Public Management from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa.

Masters in Environmental Science (with a focus on Environmental Policy and Management) from Murdoch University, Western Australia.

Bachelor of Science (Zoology) from the University of Nairobi, Kenya.
